Obstacle – Missing the extraordinary
There is missing, as in skipping over, there’s missing as in longing for, and there’s both together. There’s indifference, hunger, and reckless half-hearted denial. So the extraordinary can be denied!
She reaches out in every hue; she saturates the room, stains the paper and fills in the lines with brilliance. Light feeds her, reflection her fuel.
Into her veins she pours indigo, citron, carmine and magenta. When her blood runs cold, she bleeds a shade of blue-violet. When she’s hot, it’s hissing fire of primrose yellow, crimson red, ultramarine and white.
Her eyes are metallic grey-green with gold flecks, rimmed with Prussian blue. Through the scope at the ophthalmologist’s office, she saw their velvet tunnels reaching deeper into herself than she had ever seen from the outside. She wonders if others see that far into her being.
When colours are nearby, her heart thrills, she tastes rapture on her tongue. Elation, ah! elation.
It is the texture of light that makes her weep. Where two merge into one another, she feels their journey. She is entranced.
Colour orients her, gives her direction, points the way, pulls her heart-strings into flower shapes, like cadmium red calla lilies.
Sometimes she thinks in black and white.
Solution – Greet what moves you, ask it to dance
